Josh Kimball’s Screenshots of Despair blog curates those moments when our technology and social media gets unexpectedly existential all of a sudden. “The thinking behind the site was simply that we have come to use the ’social language’ of ‘friends’ and ‘favorites’ to describe interactions that are heavily mediated by technology,” explains Josh. “And when we do that, all kinds of weird, funny and seemingly existentially dreadful accidents of language happen. Like having a website tell you that you need to find new friends. Or a chat app telling you that you are invisible.”
