Kevin Weir started his site Flux Machine as a way to explore the features of Photoshop. “The earliest images focused on mashing together old photography and new photography, with the animation thrown in as an afterthought,” he explains. “Over time, I realized that the most exciting bit was seeing an old photograph spring to life.”
The photographs are all Creative Commons licensed, found on the Library of Congress Flickr account. “That thing is a gold mine of old photography,” says Kevin. We love the combination of old technology and new, black-and-white with colour, serious with silly.”I don’t make these for money or fame or anything,” Kevin explains. “Just for fun. I’m glad people like them.”
We also dig his latest project, Nyan Waits. Which, pretty much speaks for itself.
